The Coldwater meet was cancelled last weekend due to the weather.

Friday 2/23/18 was our annual meet honoring former Lowell bus driver and long time gymnastics supporter, Dawn Fisher, who passed away years ago of cancer.

We call this our Div 3 meet because Regionals is divided into Div 1 and Div 2. This meet is only for girls to compete on events that they DID NOT qualify on for Regionals. Canton’s coach, John Cunningham, hosts a meet like this on the East side of the state as well. It is very fitting for us to honor Dawn at this meet because when I first started coaching, her daughter Skye was on Lowell’s team, we never qualified for regionals, we barely would score 100 for a team score but Dawn was always there cheering all the girls on. I wish she was still around, she would be so happy with the progress we have made with the program. Besides honoring Dawn, my favorite thing about this meet is that the girls that compete all the time have to sit the bench and cheer for their team mates that don’t get to compete that much. Everyone on the team is important and this is the meet that gets to showcase different girls that do not get a lot of recognition. Some years we have a lot of girls, some years, only a few. This year’s teams were: Kenowa Hills, Potters House, and Lowell. Every year, we honor Dawn and remember how she unconditionally supported Lowell Gymnastics. Some of Dawn’s family members come each year to hand out the medals at the conclusion of the meet. This year her granddaughter, Lowell Junior Aili Fisher, handed out the awards.
