The Arrows took a break from the hills to participate in the West Ottawa Bredeweg Invitational where they finished in the middle of the pack but enjoyed many personal records. The meet won by the host team provided the girls a chance to run against some of the best runners and teams in the state. The Lowell varsity team was lead by medalist Haley Nieuwkoop’s 13th place finish in a season best 19:48. Audrey Conrad had her best race of the year taking 24th in 20:21, Jada Millhisler also had a season best 20:42 for 33rd place, rounding out the top five was Lauren Aud in 47th (21:10) and Alexis Haines in 78th (22:15). Jennifer Cooper (22:38) and Ashely Boehr (22:45) closed out the scoring for the Arrows.
The Lowell took advantage of the competition by giving the underclassman a chance to run in a very competitive JV meet so that they can learn to run from the front. The Arrows learned quickly as Lauren Swain captured top honors in 21:23 and Theresa Judd taking 14th in 22:38. Marlie Fowler also captured a medal finishing in 15th one second behind Judd.
Overall it was a great meet with eight Arrows scoring personal records and EVERY runner getting their best time of the season. The Arrows will get in a good week of work before they head to Sparta on Saturday for the Sparta Invite.
