The Lowell High School Girls Bowling Team welcomes their new Head Coach, Heather Phillips, as long-time Coach Jennifer Clark transitions to the Assistant Coach role prior to planned “retirement” in 2020.
The Girls participated in a tune-up tournament hosted by Wyoming High School to kick-off the 2019-2020 high school bowling season. There were 16 teams from the west Michigan area participating. Coaches Phillips and Clark used the opportunity to introduce new team members to tournament format, while observing all available team members, new and returning, in match play. Bowling Saturday were: returning Seniors Olivia Dennie, Jessica Hull and Emma Blakie; returning Sophomore Savannah Escobedo; and new team members, Freshman Haylie Beers and Courtney Witten. Congratulations to Emma Blakie for her 4th place finish on the All-Tournament Team.
The Girls bowled consistently from the start and ended the Qualifying Round in 2nd place, advancing to match play. Unfortunately, they struggled with spare shooting in the first round of match play, losing their two game Baker match by a total of seven (7) pins to end their day.
The Girls will be back in action in a non-conference match against Hudsonville at The Bowling Alley of Ionia on Wednesday, December 11, at 3:30 pm.
