This week, we feature two more outstanding seniors!

Jake Nugent

Our male senior student-athlete of the week is Jake Nugent. Jake has played lacrosse all four years of high school as well as football his freshman and senior year.

His favorite sport is lacrosse and favorite sports memory is sophomore year when the boys almost won conference. He has been a captain of the lacrosse team since last season.  He also let us know that his favorite athlete is Larry Bird.

Academically Jake has been on honor roll, and vice president of the LHS National Honors Society chapter which he has been a part of since sophomore year. He wanted to give a shoutout to Mrs. Swift who is one of his favorite teachers.

When he graduate high school he plans to attend Kalamazoo College to pursue a degree in biology with plans to attend medical school. He also plans on majoring in business as well. Jake will not only continue his academic career at Kalamazoo, he will also play lacrosse there as well.

Lexy Cook

Our female senior student-athlete of the week is Lexy Cook. Lexy has been hard at work with the Lowell Track & Field program and in the classroom the past four years at LHS.

Her favorite sports memory is throwing her best at the OK White track & field conference meet last year.  Academically she has been a great student, getting on the honor roll every trimester of high school. Her favorite sport would be track & field.

On Saturday in the shot put relay Lexy along with Amber Brown placed 3rd with a 51’09.50″. Lexy and Kyleigh Rau also placed 4th in the discus relay. In the tri and senior night, Lexy placed first in shot put with a put of 26’1″.

 

After graduating from LHS, Lexy plans on attending Central Michigan University. There she plans to further her education and major in special education. We wish both of these student-athletes the best as they go off to college this fall!
