In this week’s edition of SSAOTW, we feature two more outstanding student-athletes! Our two senior student-athletes of the week presented by JDubb’s Signature Subs of Lowell are Connor Nugent and Miah Ransom.
Our male senior-student athlete of the week is Connor Nugent. Connor is one of our multi-sport athletes at LHS. He has played football, wrestling, and lacrosse all four years of high school. His favorite sports memory is when the wrestling team won a 5th straight state title just a few short weeks ago.
“I just looked around at all the seniors and teammates that I had with me and I thought how cool it is to be with this group of guys.”
His favorite sports would be wrestling and lacrosse. After high school, Connor will be studying agricultural business and management at either Michigan State or Cornell with a minor in Spanish. Connor’s favorite athlete is Robert Gronkowski.
Connor also said his favorite non-sports memory at LHS would be when all of the wrestlers stayed up all night after individual states and played NBA 2k. “We played all night,” Connor said, “and I beat Austin Engle and Sam Russell which was awesome.”

Our female senior-student athlete of the week is Miah Ransom. She has played softball all four years of high school. Her favorite sports memory was when “Coach McElroy called a timeout during the game against Hudsonville to high five me. It was after getting a run in during a pickle play and not getting out while doing so.”
Also, her favorite sport is softball by far because it’s the only sport she plays now. Miah’s favorite athlete is Sierra Romero, a Michigan Softball alumni and current USSSA Pride player. Miah loves her attitude, motivation, and determination towards the game and continuing those aspects into life situations.
Miah’s academic and athletic achievements include being all-conference honorable mention (2015, 2016, and 2017), best sportsmanship (2017), and team academic award (2017).
After high school, Miah plans to study Special Education at Eastern Michigan University or Grand Valley State University. Finally, Miah said her favorite non-sport memory is “being on the rail for Pink Arrow with some of my best friends and helping show our school spirit and Pink Arrow Pride to the community.”
We thank these two student athletes for their dedication to the sports they took on and all they’ve achieved in their four year period at LHS! Thank you to J-Dubb’s Signature Subs of Lowell for sponsoring our Senior Student-Athletes of the Week.
