Red Arrows News · J-Dubbs’ Signature Subs Senior Student-Athletes of the Week – Christian Beimers and Makyla Branagan

This week our two senior student-athletes of the week presented by JDubb’s Signature Subs are Makyla Branagan and Christian Beimers.

Christian Beimers

Our male senior-student athlete of the week is Christian Beimers. Christian has been a part of both the football team and the wrestling team throughout his four years at LHS.

His favorite sports memory came his freshman year when the wrestling team won the state title. Firsts are almost always the best, and it was Christian’s first time being on a high school state championship team. He said that defending that 2014 state title made the entire journey extremely fun to be a part of! The Red Arrow Wrestling team has now won four consecutive state titles and hosts the Gary Rivers Memorial Duals this Saturday.

Christian’s favorite sport is wrestling. His favorite athlete is American wrestler Jordan Burroughs.

Academic and Athletic Achievements – Christian has been on the honor roll, received varsity letters for both football and wrestling, and been a part of three state championship teams for wrestling.

Throughout all the exciting moments in high school, Christian’s favorite non-sports memory was the two years when he was a part of the student section before making it onto the varsity football team. After graduating, Christian plans on attending Davenport University to major in the field of accounting. He plans on possibly double majoring in finance and spanish.

Makyla Branagan

Makyla is our female senior-student athlete of the week. She has played multiple sports during her time at LHS.

  • Her freshman through junior year she was on our volleyball team.
  • She has played basketball all four years at LHS.
  • She also competed on the softball team her sophomore and junior year.

Her favorite memory, like fellow teammate Cassie Dean, was when the Lowell Varsity Girls Basketball team won the OK White Conference Championship last year. Her favorite sport is basketball, and she recently started in a win for the Lady Arrows against FHN on Tuesday. The girls have another big game tomorrow (Friday 1/19) at Forest Hills Central.

Makyla’s favorite athlete is New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees. After graduating from LHS, Makyla plans on attending Grand Rapids Community College with a goal of eventually becoming a veterinary technician.

Thank you to J-Dubb’s Signature Subs of Lowell for sponsoring our Senior Student-Athletes of the Week.
