SSAOTW – Week 3 – Elijah Dixon & Katrina Droski
It was pink week here at Lowell High School, which meant it was a special week. To cap off the milestone we celebrated as Pink Arrow 10, here are the next two senior student athletes of the week, Katrina Droski and Elijah Dixon!

Katrina is our female featured this week. Throughout her high school career, she has stepped up to be quite an active runner. This fall is her fourth year of cross country, and in the spring she plans on being on the track & field team for her fourth and final time.
Between the two, she said her favorite sport is cross country.
Katrina has a wide variety of sports memories as an athlete at the high school. These include, doing really well as a team by accomplishing personal records, multiple medals, and trophies too. She added that two years ago at regionals, her team placed 6th, and both the guys and girls achieved personal records for the 4×800. They were very excited because of those results, and to add on, they were extremely proud when the guys got the same accomplishment. She also likes getting new personal bests each year in general, because that’s the most rewarding and exciting thing you can do single handed. Katrina also likes the thrill of just cheering on her teammates, and it’s really exciting to her when the last match of the season is taking place because of the entire team being there to support. Not only that but everyone is running from side to side for the 4×400.

Katrina has a lot of personal athletic achievements too, such as MVP at this years cross country camp, picking up medals and trophies for both cross country and track, placing 4th in conference as a part of the girls 4×800 team (plus medal), and earning a medal at regionals both last year for 6th place and this year in the 4×800.
After high school, Katrina has yet to decide where her future will take place.
Our male athlete of the week is Elijah! By the years, Elijah played baseball in his freshman year, soccer his sophomore year, a kicker on the football team his junior year while also partaking in soccer, and soccer again in his senior year at Lowell High School.
His favorite sports moment as a Red Arrow athlete was when he scored the game winning penalty kick against Grand Rapids Northview in their first district game of 2016. Being the sport he has played the most, Elijah mentioned that his favorite sport is soccer.
WE ARE THROUGH.

Elijah’s favorite athlete is Kylian Sanmi Mbappé Lottin, a French soccer player who plays for Paris Saint Germain FC, often called PSG for short.
In the classroom, Elijah has earned honor roll all three years so far, and is looking forward to be on it in the fourth. On the playing field, Elijah has been named all-conference, district, regional, and all-state honorable mention (2016). After high school, he looks forward to playing college soccer at a high level.
Elijah’s favorite non-sport moment came in his sophomore year when Brendan Paulus ran into a pole and promptly drove away as fast as possible because he thought it was a car instead. As an added note, Elijah mentioned that this community does a lot for other people, and because of that, he is very happy to be a part of something that is so small but is also so big.
We wish these two the best of luck as they move onto their next stage of life after graduating as a student at Lowell High School!
