The Lowell Crew Club became one of the very select few Lowell teams to compete internationally this past weekend when they competed in Canada at the 34th Annual Doug and Sam Wells Western Ontario Secondary School Regatta hosted by the London Rowing Society.

Lowell Wrestling frequented Canada during the 80’s, but since then very few Lowell teams have competed against teams from Canada. They competed on Saturday at Lake Fanshawe, in the Fanshawe Conservation Area in London (ON), Canada.

The Crew team boarded the bus at 1:30am on Saturday and didn’t get home until 10:30pm. They had a lot of fun though! There were 28 teams at the Regatta, most from Canada. There were several Michigan teams there as well including Gibraltar Carlson, Lowell, Dearborn Crestwood, Riverview, Roosevelt, Trenton, and Grosse Ile. The team also got a new banner for the regatta, which was very exciting.

The team had a great year. Visit Redarrowathletics.com/crew for more summaries from this year. The team competed in eight events and finished as such.

The Men’s Junior 4 Boat – Logan Riffle, Brady Chambers, Mitchell McMillian, Aaron Fritsma (Coxswain: Sydney Riffle)

The Men’s Junior 4 placed 4th in their heat beating the team from Trenton and Grosse Ile (scratched) with a time of 8:44.551

Lowell did not compete in the 8-man (pictured here) on Saturday, but this is a picture of the 8-man boat from their regatta in Grand Rapids.

The Men’s Senior 2 Boat – Devon Siciliano, Logan VanderMeulen and Nate Hawkins, Noah Hawkins

The boys placed 5th in their heat beating the team from Dearborn Crestwood (MI).
