Lowell Shooting Team Competes at Madison Square and KCCL

James VanDeusen led the way for the Red Arrows in Sunday’s South West Conference Trap Championships held at Madison Square Sportsman’s Club in Rockford.

James shot a 92, meaning he hit 92 out of 100 possible targets, including a perfect score of a 25 in his last round.

Noah Brown followed with an 89, then there was Ethan Ettinger and Noah Worsley who both shot 86’s. Abigale Wester and Caiden Hinzmann were not too far behind with 83’s to round off some of the top performers for LHS.

The JV team of Jake Hanson, Brianna Laux, and Zachary Callihan placed third with a score of 145 total. Two varsity teams competed in the senior/varsity division with one team placing 4th in their division with a score of 423 with scores recorded by VanDeusen, Brown, Wester, Ettinger, and Kenny Kropf. The 2nd varsity team placed a close 7th in a field of 11 with scores recorded by Josh Bush, Worsley, Hinzmann, Donald Trierweiler, and Thomas Gaskin.

On Saturday, the Red Arrows competed at the Kent County Conservation League in skeet and sporting clays.

In skeet, Lowell was led by Noah Brown and Abigale Wester who both shot 84’s. Caiden Hinzmann and Josh Bush were close behind with 83 and 81 respectively. In sporting clays Noah Brown and James VanDeusen paced the Red Arrows. LHS Class of 2016 graduate Marilla Marks was also out there competing for Michigan State University.

19 teams competed in skeet, Lowell had four groups compete in the senior division with Brown, VanDeusen, and Wester earning a score of 246 overall. Wester, Brown, and VanDeusen placed 6th as a team in sporting clays with a score of 218 in a 16 team field.
